Link: Dressing Your Kids

This is definitely something I struggle with on a daily basis - not only do you have to pick out good looking clothes for your kids, you have to actually get the clothes onto the kids' bodies. It's harder than it sounds. I found this blog post that can relate to my struggles and had to share it with you, in case you have the same problem.

A Dad's Guide to Shopping for Boys' Clothes

All parents want their baby boys to look sophisticated and classy. However, with the recent growth of the boy clothes niche, choosing a perfect collection for your boy child can be a frustrating affair. Instead of going for painstakingly coordinated clothing that children have worn since ancient times, this article highlights several key things that you should keep in mind, to buy clothing that reflects your baby's unique taste and personality.

Children, like adults, have their own specific tastes and styles when it comes to outerwear. In addition to your personal tastes, make sure that you pay attention to your child's unique personality when you are buying boy clothes. As such, you will lower the possibility of rejection or cluttering your boy's wardrobes with clothes that he will not wear for long. Cargo pants, shorts, jeans, and track pants are universal collections that all boys love. They are very comfortable and can go well with nearly all types of clothing (shirts, T-shirts, hoodies etc.). Make sure that you buy a collection of them in his favorite colors and a pair of classy shoes to crown the look.

It’s well known that little boys are very active. They like running, tagging, ducking, climbing, jumping, and other physical activities. While this is healthy and encouraged, the aforementioned activities can have a significant impact on their clothes. When you are buying boy clothes, make sure that the designs and materials that you go for are durable and can withstand constant abuse. They must also be loose enough to enhance mobility. Consider buying sports apparel such as football or rugby tops and shorts. Finally, when you are choosing colors, it is advisable that you go for darker ones, which do not stain easily.

When you are buying boy clothes for your child, choosing good underwear is as equally as important as quality outerwear. From Y-fronts, boxers, boy shorts, and even slip-ons, you can find a variety of boys' underwear from your favorite offline or online stores. Even so, while choosing underwear for your child, comfort is an essential attribute that you should never sacrifice. Make sure that the designs and styles that you go for are functional, and very comfortable. Check the labels and seams on your preferred boy clothes. Are they flat? Will they irritate the skin of your child? If the clothing label is a nuisance, rip it off, or select another suitable design, altogether.

Keep in mind the type of fabrics that you choose, while buying boy clothes. They must be smooth, comfortable, and breathable, to enhance comfort. If possible, choose a natural fabric such as cotton, or a blended material (cotton and polyester, etc.). Avoid choosing synthetic fabrics such as nylon as much as you can when you are buying boys' underwear. Though they are cheap and readily available, they will irritate your boy's delicate skin. They are also less breathable and trap a lot of heat. This leads to excessive sweating and predisposes your child to serious skin conditions (rashes, etc.) that can lower his quality of life.

In addition to all of this, make sure that you buy all boy clothes from a reputable offline or online retailer. Do not fall prey to cheap promotional campaigns that many unscrupulous retailers put up to make easy money. Research, seek referrals from friends, and then compare what is available to increase your chances of success.
